Top 5 Leadership Trends

Key trends to successful leadership

With subject matter experts across the globe weighing in on leadership trends, it can be hard to know which ones are most important. Prioritizing what we focus on being important and all.

When Inc.com features an article on the topic, I tend to listen. Recently, John Eades, CEO of LearnLoft published an interesting post, “The 5 Biggest Leadership Trends to Watch”. And these are spot on, in my opinion.

Workforces continue to diversity, which is an awesome thing. And, it also produces some challenges. Successfully managing teams made up of a variety of generations, cultures, gender, disciplines, not to mention learning styles can be daunting. Those of you who know me, know I’m passionate about cultivating effective communication skills that transcend our differences and build on our commonalities.

So naturally, I was delighted to see “Learn to Lead Several Generations” and “Welcome Female Leadership” as trends #1 and #2 to watch:-) Generation Z and even a few Generation A are hitting the workforce and organizations are more focused on developing female leaders than ever. That’s a lot of change. Effective leaders embrace change and learn to adapt their management style to accommodate shifts in the workforce.

Trend #5 should be on this list every year. We know that being a life-long learner is a staple requirement of success. How do these 5 trends sync up with your own leadership experience?
